Arteastiq Boutique Tea House is located on the fourth level of Mandarin Gallery along Orchard Road. Once you get past its rather ordinary looking entrance, you step into a different world. The wall of tropical greenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is a magnificent sight. This surely can’t be Orchard Road – but it is. This very quiet place is luxuriously appointed and serves healthy food with designer teas. As we observed the well-groomed clientele that trickled in for lunch, we realised that we had unwittingly stumbled into a tai tai’s paradise!
When in Rome do as the Romans do, so we opted for some healthy choices which we hope will be a first step towards achieving the svelte figures of our fellow diners.
We ordered a salad, cheekily named Juicy Geisha ($11.90), which had roast beef in a mix of vegetables including Japanese cucumbers and alfalfa sprouts which provided a nice crunch and texture. The other item was the Pearl Crab ($15.50), a rice paper wrap with crabmeat and vegetables. This was a refreshing dish with its Thai/Vietnamese-inspired ingredients providing a nice sour and slightly spicy finish. We ended our meal with a cappuccino, which as you can see, was exquisitely presented.
We have been to Mandarin Gallery many times but had never felt the urge to try Arteastiq because the entrance looked very plain. Hence our experience today was an unexpected and pleasant one. We will certainly stop by again at this oasis in the heart of Orchard Road.
Arteastiq also has another outlet – see our post Arteastiq Tea House in Plaza Singapura.
