Little Wimbly Lu @ Serangoon Garden

Little Wimbly Lu at Serangoon Garden

In one of the most charming estates in Singapore, we find a lovely little cafe named Little Wimbly Lu. Located in myVillage @ Serangoon Garden, the cafe is a new outlet of the Wimbly Lu renowned for their chocolates and waffles. The cafe is small and has a small menu, but good things can come in little packages.

Although inside a mall, the entire cafe is in a “Glass House” –  a very clever and cool concept. Storage cabinets and drawers are smartly used as design elements to add colour to the place. Wooden floor, a long bench and tables and chairs of various heights, shapes and colours make the tiny space interesting, warm and cosy.

They operate on a self-service basis. You place your order and will be given a nice red contraption that looks like a computer mouse. When your order is ready for collection the contraption buzzes and vibrates.

The menu has limited savoury items but lots of sweets. There is also a quite wide selection of ice cream.

I had a latte ($5) and the signature Little Wimbly Lu Waffle (S$4), which is half the normal portion, topped with a scoop of rum and raisin ice cream ($3.50). The light waffles were very good. They were nicely browned, with the right touch of fluffiness on the inside and crisp on the outside. The ice cream was fine though it was hard to discern the taste of rum. On the whole, the Little Wimbly Lu Waffle was delicious and good value.

This little cafe in Serangoon Garden has the feel of a modern cafe in a quiet village. It is appealing and intimate. Little Wimbly Lu is a wonderful little place for good desserts.
