Being regular patrons of the outlets at Westgate, we are always on the lookout for reasonably priced lunch deals. We had sampled and documented some of them earlier in this blog. We recently tried the set lunch at Paul @ Westgate. At $13.90 per pax, we believe this is one of the best deals in Westgate or perhaps even in the whole Jurong East area.
Located on the ground floor, Paul is situated along the central corridor of the mall and is easy to find. The decor is traditional European with a few modern touches. Most of the seating is in the form of traditional tables and high-backed chairs. There are a few cosy armchair seats which we preferred. Paul describes itself as a French family bakery and pattisserie, so it is no wonder that their cakes and pastries look enticing. At the Westgate restaurant, they serve more than just pastries and have a good selection of Western dishes. For lunch on weekdays, four of these dishes are available as a set lunch together with your choice of tea or coffee.
We decided on the Salad Nicoise and the Roasted Chicken. We were pleased with the presentation of the dishes as they looked almost as good as in the pictures on the menu. The salad was fresh and the tuna had good taste and texture. The abundant provision of olives added to the complexity of taste. The chicken was roasted very well, the skin was slightly charred and well seasoned with herbs while the inside was moist and succulent. Both items were served in generous portions.
What we appreciated was that the dishes and the coffee served were regular items from the menu and not some lesser variant served to reflect the lower prices charged at lunch. The usual menu prices for the lunch (with coffee) would have been around $23 and $28 respectively. Overall the set lunch at Paul @ Westgate was a good simple lunch in a nice restaurant at a delicious price of $13.90.
