Marco Marco Panini Pasta Pizza is a cozy and simply decorated restaurant located on the ground floor of the Millenia Walk shopping mall. The shop caught our eye with its brightly coloured, almost pop art-like, posters illustrating their pizzas. On closer examination, Marco Marco offers not just pizza but a wide selection of panini, pasta and pizza. We were sufficiently tempted by their posters to try one of their pizzas.
The casual Italian eatery has obviously adopted the names of international cities for their dishes. Their panini prices range from $7.90 for the Atlanta (chicken mayo, tomato and lettuce) to the $11.90 Fukuoka (salmon, avocado and cucumber). Their pizza prices range from $9.90 to $14.90. We placed our order at the cashier for a Palermo pizza which had ham, mushroom and tomato toppings ($13.90). The staff were attentive but not exactly friendly.
The pizza was served shortly thereafter. I must say it was a good-looking pizza. It was a thin crust pizza, not the very thin kind but thin enough for the crust to be crispy. Taste-wise it exceeded our expectations, which I admit were quite low as this looked like a fast food outlet which placed their emphasis on turnover rather than taste. The flavors of the ingredients blended well and the crust was nice and crisp. The balance of the mushroom with the ham was quite spot-on. It was quite a substantial specimen, 10-inch I think. It was sufficient as a light meal for two persons.
Marco Marco offers some options whereby you can pay a bit more to complete the meal with a side order and drink and/or dessert. We think the prices are quite reasonable. The ambience is fine and while the service is not very warm, it was at least efficient which is more than what we can say about many places these days. We will certainly re-visit Marco Marco if we are in search of a simple Italian meal or snack.
