Best Singapore Food Courts

Singapore’s food courts have really transformed from dark stuffy ducklings into beautiful swans. Gone are the boring and plain areas and in their place pleasant, almost restaurant-like settings. The only downside is that prices have also been going up.  We hope price increases will be moderated in the future. They are convenient places to go to find different types of food in one common dining space.

In appreciation of the efforts made by food courts to make our familiar hawker fare and other types of food available to us in increasingly plusher surroundings, we have compiled a list of the food courts that we feel are the best food courts in Singapore as they have gone out of their way to improve our dining experience. The places are listed in no particular order.

Essen at the Pinnacle

Essen at the Pinnacle is a food court with a difference.  It operates like a food court with a collection of individual food stalls in an air-conditioned space. The big difference is that the food here is of the restaurant variety and price.  Here you can find French cuisine by Garçons, innovative burgers by Burger Buddies, fried chicken wings by Two Wings, Italian food by La Stalla, Thai and Vietnamese fare by Viethai and a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, especially beers and ciders. Essen is located on the ground floor of the 50-storey Pinnacle at Duxton, the most impressive HDB project in Singapore so far.  For more information and pictures, please read our review here.

Food Republic @ Wisma Atria

The Food Republic food court on level 4 of Wisma Atria is possibly the most well-rounded food court along Orchard Road. The wide diversity and pleasant decor are strong points but what sets it apart from the other good food courts are their specialist f & b tenants who command a following of their own and their next door neighbour – Japan Food Town which opened in July 2016 to make the entire level floor of Wisma Atria a dining haven on Orchard Road.

Notable Stalls : Pho Noodle House, Odeon Beef Noodle and Lam’s Salt Baked Chicken.

FoodFare @ Sports Hub (Kallang Wave Mall)

The sports theme for the decor of this large food court is creatively employed. The wallpaper of cheering spectators and electronic scoreboard make you feel like you are in a stadium. Having instructions with graphics on the pillars – regarding swimming strokes, choosing running shoes, racquet games etc – is a very nice and innovative touch.
