Breakfast with a breathtaking view – that is what THIRTY8 @ Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur offers. When you catch your breath, you will realise that the spread of food is extensive and interesting; and the food taste pretty good too.
Breakfast at Grand Hyatt is usually a treat. You can expect the place to be elegantly and luxuriously appointed and the service to be top notch. You get all that at THIRTY8 @ Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In addition, you get a spectacular close up view of the Petronas Twin Towers and a panoramic view of the city of Kuala Lumpur.
The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur occupies a prime space in the city centre right next to KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers. THIRTY8 occupies the entire thirty eighth floor of the hotel. The restaurant, bar and lounge has full height glass panels which allow a 360 degree city view. The interior of the restaurant is chic and spacious. It has open kitchens, bar, quiet stylish lounge corners, booth seats as well as dining tables of all sizes and shapes. The place is suitable for a romantic dinner, business lunch, tai tai’s high tea or just a drink to unwind.
We were there for the buffet breakfast. The food was beautifully laid out on counters running round half of the spacious restaurant. You get all the usual staples at international buffet breakfast but more variety and very well presented. You get doughnuts at many breakfast buffets but at THIRTY8 the doughnuts are laid out on a tray of cinnamon sugar. Pancakes are carefully lined on 3 tier high tea plate stand. There is a wide choice gourmet salad dressing. There are more types of sauces for eggs at THIRTY8’s breakfast than on the shelves of your average supermarket.
There are the usual sections with freshly baked bread and pastries, cereals, eggs and salads. Yogurt, a selection of cheese, Japanese porridge and Chinese dim sum are available. There is also a Middle East section where you can get hummus, tabouleh and pita bread.
Since it is breakfast at Grand Hyatt in Malaysia, there is also plenty of Malaysian breakfast items. You can get the more luxurious and hygienic versions of local delights usually found in the street side stores.
We tried various items like dim sum, eggs and sausages and pastries. They were all good. We particularly enjoyed the roti canai with rendang chicken. We also liked the freshly made pancake which was crispy and delicious; good enough to eat on its own but even more delectable when eaten with fruit compote. The mango compote was very good. We were also happy to have the simple you zha kueh (dough fritters) with soya bean milk. We certainly did not expect to find the simple traditional item while having breakfast at Grand Hyatt.
Breakfast at Grand Hyatt’s THIRTY8 was certainty a treat. The staff were professional and friendly. They made you feel welcomed and honoured and at ease at the same time. There was an extensive spread of food and the food was of high quality. The view from the breakfast table was captivating. Breakfast at the Grand Hyatt in Kuala Lumpur was a great way to start a day.
