Hilton Kuala Lumpur is one of the two the hotels next to Stesen Sentral. Besides its convenient location, the great food options in the hotel is another reason to stay at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur. The main food outlet is Vasco’s on the lobby level. It is an all-day-dining restaurant which operates from 6 am to 12 midnight. It has an impressive breakfast buffet with a good mix of Malaysian dishes and selection of Asian and international favourites.
Vasco’s at Hilton Kuala Lumpur is large. It has a high ceiling and is nicely decorated in contemporary style. An inviting array of food is beautifully laid out on counters spread out in the restaurant. There are many stations where there are chefs to prepare the food for you on request. You get all the usual staples at international buffet breakfast. There is a wide variety of bread and pastries, cereals, cold cuts, eggs, salads and fruits.
There are Chinese food sections where there are dim sum and porridge and Japanese sections where you can get sushi and noodles. Buffet at Vasco’s would, of course, mean plenty of local Malaysian favourites like roti canai, kawy teow soup and nyonya kuehs.
We tried various items like dim sum, eggs, French toasts, sausages and doughnuts. They all looked good and, save for a few disappointing items, tasted good too. We particularly enjoyed the roti jalil, which was something we would not usually find in Singapore. We also liked the fruits section which had many local fruits like jack fruit and mango.
Generally, the food at Vasco’s was fine. There was such a wide variety to choose from; it would be hard not hard to find something enjoyable. The service was good. The staff was attentive and helpful.
We had opted to pay a little extra for a hotel room package with complimentary breakfast. As it worked out, we were in effect paying 30 ringgit each for the breakfast buffet at Vasco’s. That was excellent value for a good breakfast in a very pleasant place.
