Timbre live music restaurants and bars are popular venues for drinks and enjoying live performances. Located in the lush compound of the Gillman Arts Centre, Timbre @ Gillman has both indoor air-conditioned and alfresco dining areas, as well as a bar and a stage for live performance. At Gillman, Timbre live music restaurant and bar is a nice atmospheric place for drinks in the evenings and it offers a good range of food too.
Timbre @ Gillman has a small air-conditioned bar area. It takes full advantage of its lush surroundings by having a very large non air-conditioned dining area with a resort style outdoor furnishing. The “outdoor dining area” is sheltered from the elements but is airy and has an informal and rustic feel.
There is a well equipped stage for live performances and the sound system is very good. You can make song requests by sending sms messages to a number flashed on the TV screens mounted all around the restaurant.
Timbre @ Gillman has an electronic menu. The range of food available is quite extensive. There are tapas, salads, burgers, pastas, pizzas as well as usual mains like fish, chicken, pork and beef prepared in various ways. Platters for sharing and sides like butter asparagus, chicken wings and truffled fries are available.
Order is made via the electronic menu. The wait for the food was about slightly long – maybe about 20 minutes or more. It was a good thing that there were 2 young artistes, who sang rather well, to keep the us entertained while we waited for our food. We could also help ourselves to water from the water station.
We tried their Slow Roasted Spiced Spring Chicken ($25) and Chocolate Fondant ($10).
The Roasted Spiced Spring Chicken was presented on a wooden board decorated with mashed potatoes and red wine jus. The chicken itself did not look very exciting – a dull pale brown chicken drizzled with dull brown sauce. Luckily, it tasted better than it looked. The chicken was tender and juicy. It was well marinated and the variety of ingredients combined well to produce something that was flavourful and exciting for the palate.
The Chocolate Fondant was Timbre’s version of warm chocolate lava cake. It was well made. The cake was light and the molten dark chocolate inside was rich and gooey. Each mouthful was enjoyable, yielding a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Timbre live music restaurant at Gillman Arts Centre is a good place to go to for a drink, a meal or just for coffee and desserts. It is in a great location and the casual atmosphere makes it an inviting and relaxing place. The food is decent. The live music in the evenings is a great bonus.
