Wing Zone Wings & Burgers at Bugis+

Wing Zone is a casual American diner offering buffalo wings and hamburgers with special proprietary flavours such as Tokyo Dragon and Sweet Samurai (inspired by Japanese spices) and Buffalo Bliss, Hot Shot & Nuclear Habanero (inspired by traditional American spices). Located at level 4 of Bugis+ (once upon a time known as Iluma) Wing Zone also serves salads, sandwiches and desserts. On weekdays, it has quite attractive lunch deals.

Students get a special 20% discount from 11 am to 6 pm on weekdays. For those who can no longer renew their student cards, there is a weekday lunch special where you get a main course plus a side item and a drink for $7.95 or $8.95. GST is included in the advertised price and there is no service charge.

We went to Wing Zone for lunch and ordered 2 set meals for $8.95 each – the Beef Burger with Cinnamon Maple Sauce and Celery & Carrots; and the 2 piece Chicken Drumsticks with BBQ Sauce and Wedge Fries.

At Wing Zone Bugis+, you order and pay at the counter and you will be given a device which you place on your table. The device is a “table locator” which will tell the server where to bring your food to.

Our drinks were served quite quickly and the wait for the food was about 10 minutes. The food was served in deli food baskets with wax paper liners. The food did not look very exciting and we have to say the taste was also quite average.

The chicken drumsticks were what you would expect and we thought the BBQ sauce was a bit too sweet. The Wedge Fries were the standout item for the lunch. They were really crispy and enjoyable.

The beef burger did look a bit better than the drumsticks. It tasted fine but it would not be difficult to get a better burger somewhere else. The celery and carrot sticks were…well, sticks of raw celery and carrot. Very healthy was all we could say.

With so many other places in Bugis offering different varieties of chicken and burgers, Wing Zone has a lot of competition. We think we would go to Wing Zone again if we want a quick affordable meal or if we feel like trying their range of sauces. They have 17 flavours to choose from; a few sounded quite interesting.

We were told that Wing Zone would be opening a new outlet in Buangkok in mid-April 2016 and that outlet’s hours would be extended to midnight or even later. In view of the scarcity of late-night dining places in Buangkok, Wing Zone might be a welcomed addition for the residents there. Wing Zone also has a delivery service and a new outlet should also mean an expansion in the delivery zone.
