Udders & Kook at Siglap (Outlet Closed)

Udders & Kook

Udders is a local success story. A Singaporean couple has built a thriving chain of  ice-cream parlours, popular for its Mao Shan Wang Durian ice cream and its range of liqueur flavours like Bailey’s & Bourbon, Wineberries and Rum Rum Raisin. Udders Ice Cream at Siglap decided to serve hot food as well. So it employed a cook and renamed itself Udders & Kook serving mains like bangers & mash, chicken confit and burgers.

Udders & Kook

Udders Ice Cream at Siglap used to operate from the premises a few doors away which is now occupied by Stamping Ground Coffee House. Udders & Kook moved into its present premises which was previously occupied by Strictly Pancakes. Talk about the dynamism of the F&B scene in Singapore!

Udders & Kook

Udders & Kook is still an ice cream parlour but it now serves more than just ice cream.  It has a hot food menu for mains and small bites. It caters to the whole family. The food menu has a kids section. For the grown-ups, besides ice creams with alcohol content, Udders & Kook actually sells alcohol too.

Here are a few photos of sections of Udders & Kook’s food menu.

We visited Udders & Kook at Siglap for brunch and ordered a Chicken Confit ($13.90) and the Monkey See Monkey Do Waffle ($11.90). Currently, a free scoop of ice cream would come with every order of a main dish. No GST or Service Charge would be added to the bill.

Udders & Kook Chicken

The presentation of the Chicken Confit was very appealing. Looking at it made us very hungry. We skipped the usual ritual of trying to take photos which would make the food look pretty and appetizing. A few quick snaps and we started eating.

A nicely fried leg of chicken sat on a bed of mashed potatoes. It was drizzled with chorizo oil and french mustard cream sauce. The chicken had crispy skin and tender meat underneath. The sauce and chorizo oil added layers of taste to the dish making it very enjoyable.

Udders & Kook Waffles

The Monkey See Monkey Do Waffle did not look too pretty. Even if we have tried, we could not have made the waffle look better in the photos. It was essentially fresh banana and banana crisps with a scoop of ice cream on waffle. We chose the rum rum raisin ice cream. The waffle was nicely done and had good texture. The best part of the dish was the intensely alcoholic ice cream.

We rounded off our brunch with a scoop of Tira-Miss-U ice cream, which came free because we ordered the chicken confit. It was not bad but it did not really taste like tiramisu. The alcoholic content was fairly strong and there was a slight bitter taste because of the generous amount of cocoa powder dusted over the ice cream.

Udders & Kook Ice Cream

We are glad that Udders decided to employ a cook for hot food. We have always liked their ice cream. Now, with a fair selection of hot food items on their menu, there is even more reason to visit Udders & Kook. We can enjoy ice cream there with breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea, dinner or late night drinks.
