BlooiE’s Roadhouse Restaurant used to operate out of Jalan Tua Kong where you could sit outdoors and have a beer under the stars. It was a hidden gem but not easily accessible. The Jalan Tua Kong outlet has closed and BlooiE’s has moved out to the Springvale along East Coast Road. The New BlooiE’s Bar & Roastery in Siglap has a more polished look compared to the rustic setup at its old location. The New BlooiE’s Bar & Roastery still serves an extensive range of beverages and good American roadhouse food.
As you would expect, the bar dominates and it is the first thing you see as you enter BlooiE’s Bar & Roastery in Siglap.
The drinks list is extensive. Beer, cider, whisky, shooters and cocktails from all over the world tempt you. Wine is also available by the glass or bottles.
BlooiE’s Bar & Roastery in Siglap is also a family oriented and kids friendly restaurant. We saw a number of families with very young children enjoying their lunch there. The large TV screens around the dining area, for sports programme in the evenings, helped to keep the kids entertained. There is a kids menu.
For the rest of the family, the comprehensive menu offers quesadillas, pasta, pizza, salad, wraps, grilled meats, burgers and much more. There are also daily specials on the board. Here are pictures of a few pages of BlooiE’s menu.
We went to the new BlooiE’s Bar & Roastery along East Coast Road for lunch. We ordered a Hawaiian Burger ($15.90) and the BlooiE’s Cajun Chicken ($18.90). Coffee was $5. GST and service charge would be added to the bill.
The service was generally good. The food and drinks were served very soon after our orders were taken.
The Hawaiian Burger was served with coleslaw and thin crispy fries sprinkled with salt and cajun spices. The beef patty was thick and juicy. On the whole, a hearty and tasty burger with a smokey flavour.
The Cajun Chicken did not look very pretty. The dish was served with boiled vegetables and mashed potatoes. The chicken thigh was well marinated with a concoction of spices and seasoning. The chicken was spicy but the aroma and flavours were delightful. We found parts of the chicken a bit too dry. Thankfully, there was some mushroom cream sauce, which was probably meant for the mashed potatoes, which went well with the Cajun chicken. The slightly sweet sauce made the dry parts of the chicken quite enjoyable.
The New BlooiE’s Bar & Roastery is a nice casual restaurant, roastery and sports bar all rolled into one. It has a laid back atmosphere and caters for all in the family. The menu is comprehensive ad they serve their food in generous portion. BlooiE’s has branches in the Rail Mall and Aquarius at Science Park. We are glad that the new BlooiE’s Bar & Roastery brings the American roadhouse experience back to the East.
