Brunch at P Bistro (Closed)

We had brunch recently at the P.Bistro in the Palais Renaissance mall in Orchard Road.  P.Bistro occupies the atrium space in the basement level that was occupied by the Antoinette Cafe some time ago. This is an attractive space as the large skylight provides abundant natural sunlight to light up the space. It was like eating outdoors, but with the luxury of air-conditioned comfort.

The Antoinette Cafe had previously done up the place like a Parisian garden (see pictures in our 2014 post). By comparison, the current decor of the P Bistro is less flamboyant, but is still quite attractive. There were still quite a lot of plants in attendance, mainly to ‘fence’ up the dining area.

P. Bistro serves a wide range of Western food. Here are pictures of some pages from the menu.  There is also a $18 set lunch menu for weekdays.  We ordered the following dishes – beef noodles ($15), a big breakfast ($18), an eggs Benedict ($15) and some tea and coffee.

Some cheese sticks were served after we placed our order. It was nice to have something to munch on as we waited for the food to arrive.

We tried the Tisane du Berger tea ($5). It was a pleasant pot of tea with floral and lemongrass flavours. A light and soothing tea that we liked. The coffee ($4 for black and $5.5 for cappuccino) was strong and rich.

The eggs Benedict was an ordinary version of this common brunch item. Two poached eggs and ham on muffins with some baked beans.  Nothing wrong with it but we always look forward to creative interpretations of staple classics. At least the presentation was quite attractive, which is more than what we can say for the next dish.

Now we show you our other brunch food – the big breakfast – “Two Eggs of Your Choice, Spicy Italian Sausage, Bacon, Sautéed Mushrooms, Baked Beans, Toast”.  The dish was exactly as the menu described it, but no more. The items were just plainly laid our on the plate.  The taste was as ordinary as its looks.

For variety, we decided to try something slightly different and so we ordered the beef noodles.  It was an average beef noodle dish – not bad, but not memorable.
