PasarBella Suntec City is a food hall with a riot of colours and flavours. PasarBella says that its Suntec City outlet is inspired by the Lower East Side of New York City. There are street art and interesting “graffiti” on the walls but what really attracted us was the wide variety of food – from chilli crabs to poke bowls and Korean Fried Chicken.
From the wide walkways facing the famed Fountain of Wealth, PasarBella Suntec City can be seen announcing itself in bright neon lights (or probably LED lights nowadays). Its al fresco dining area gives a great view of the Fountain of Wealth as well as exotic luxury cars, as it is located right next to a prestigious car showroom.
The main dining space is an air-conditioned area with tables placed haphazardly among the many stores selling a variety of food and drinks. There is also an area carved out of the corridors of the Suntec shopping mall.
The stores of PasarBella Suntec City offer grilled meats, traditional Mediterranean food, flavours of Thailand and Vietnam, Japanese food California style, Korean chicken, Cajun food, Pan-Asian dishes and more.
We went to PasarBella Suntec City for dinner and ordered a Chicken Leg Set ($12.90) from Mad Dogs Bar & Grill; and a Chicken Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger ($9.90) and Crispy Fried ($4) from Wolf Burgers.
PasarBella Suntec City is a self-service food hall. You place your order and you will be given a buzzer. You collect the food when you are buzzed.
Chicken Leg Set from Mad Dogs Bar & Grill came with mashed potato and coleslaw. The portion was quite substantial. The chicken was nicely grilled with skin that was slightly charred. It was drizzled with a delicious sauce. The meat was tender and juicy. We enjoyed Mad Dogs’ grilled chicken.
We thought Wolf Burgers’ Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger was reasonably priced at $9.90 but the same cannot be said about a small bag of fries at $4. The fries were very ordinary. The Chicken Burger was sumptuous. The crisp fillet of chicken was flavourful; crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. The purple coleslaw and salted egg mayo complemented the chicken well. We would happily order this chicken burger again.
Going to PasarBella can be like going to a pasar (Malay for market). The atmosphere is lively, there is a tempting array of food and drinks and you need not have to spend too much to get a good meal. It is a nice casual place for the family or a group of friends. There is a wide variety of cuisines to cater to diverse taste. It is easy to leave PasarBella Suntec City with a full stomach and a happy heart.
