Naughty Nuri’s Singapore is the Singapore branch of a restaurant from Bali, Indonesia that specialises in grilled pork ribs. They took over the space in Capitol Piazza previously occupied by Zaku Japanese Restaurant. We stopped by recently to try their famous ribs and the lunch time special.
Naughty Nuri’s Singapore is located in the Gallerie section of Capitol Piazza. This is the glass enclosed section of the mall that is just next to the rejuvenated Capitol Theatre. Which means we could eat alfresco out in the open and yet enjoy the coolness of air conditioning.
Here are pictures of the Naughty Nuri’s Singapore $12.80 lunchtime nasi campur menu and the $40 Christmas menu. We ordered one each of these items plus a nasi goreng from the regular menu.
Here are some pages from the regular Naughty Nuri’s Singapore menu, plus a page from their celebrated cocktails menu.
The nasi goreng ($12) was a simple fried rice dish done Indonesian style. Nothing fanciful but each component was good – the fried rice, the satay, the keropok and the chilli.
For the nasi campur, there was a choice of meat – either wagyu rendang or ayam lemak. We chose the former. Like the nasi goreng, this was a simple but enjoyable dish. The meat was cooked till very tender and smothered with a thick flavourful sauce.
The items of the $40 Christmas menu of Naughty Nuri’s Singapore could basically feed two people. A full rack of ribs (which would have cost $38.90), two bottles of Bintang beer and a serving of crispy pig ears. The ribs were very substantial and more than sufficient for two. Eating so much pork in one sitting is probably not something we should do too often. We would probably share a half rack between two or three people and order other dishes to make up the meal. The meat itself and the thick sweetish sauce made it a tasty but a very heavy meal. The beer came in handy to relieve the heaviness.
The crispy pig ears was a small bowl of deep fried ears. They were sliced into thin shreds and were easy to eat. A tasty snack or appetiser to go with the Bintang beer or the cocktails they are famous for.
Overall, we thought the food at Naughty Nuri’s Singapore (Capitol Piazza) was good and the special menu items were good value for money.
