SMBC Singapore Open 2017 is in full swing. The Singapore’s national open golf championship is taking place from 19 to 22 January 2017 at the Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club. The 2017 edition of the SMBC Singapore Open boasts of world class players like Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Ernie Els. Like all true Singaporean events, food and beverages are also an important part of the Singapore Open. We had and enjoyable time spotting golfing celebrities and partaking some good food and drinks at SMBC Singapore Open 2017.
One of the good things about attending international golf tournaments, besides appreciating the great golfing, is celebrity spotting. It is even better if the celebrities are easy on the eye. Defending champion Song Younghan was clearly the ladies favourite.
We could not pass up the opportunity to get an autograph from the charming Song Younghan.
There are food and beverage outlets at the Official Merchandise Tent – offering varied items like pizza, chicken rice, laksa, sandwiches and, of course, beer and other beverages. There are also F&B kiosks at various points along the golf course so that you can really enjoy watching golf with a glass of wine or beer in hand.
We were fortunate enough to be the guests of someone with access to one of the hospitality suites at MBC Singapore Open 2017. The SMBC Rising Suite is situated right in fron the 18th hole green.
Whether from the air-conditioned dining hall or the veranda outside, you can get a great view of the action on the 18th hole.
There is a bar in the SMBC Rising Suite and the buffet spread is catered by Shangri-la Rasa Sentosa.
You get the usual buffet items – appetizers, salad, mains and desserts. The hot selection included chicken ballotine, beef bourguignon, lamb stew and steamed fish fillet. The food was very good.
The sushi from the live sushi station deserved special mention. They looked exquisite and tasted great.
Nice cold Tiger beer, wine and a whole range of beverages were available. It was so easy to just sit there and enjoy the food and drinks and just occasionally look out to see what was happening on the course.
Attending the SMBC Singapore Open 2017 turned out to be a very interesting and enjoyable experience. We got to walk the course with the stars at one of the premier events on the Asian golf calendar, enjoyed good food and drinks and even got an autograph from one of the ladies’ heartthrobs. Life is good in Sentosa.
