Once upon a time not so long ago, Parkland Green was the hottest spot in the East. The old Parkland Golf Driving Range at East Coast Park was redeveloped into a four-hectare space with picnic lawn, new and exciting F&B outlets and a large free car park. Parkland Green and the eateries there could get very crowded on weekends. With the introduction parking charges and the opening of Marine Cove nearby, Parkland Green is much quieter these days. If, like us, you prefer to dine in places with less crowd, it may be time to visit Parkland Green again. Recently, we went for dinner at Full Pint Brewery & Fish Bar Restaurant, a micro-brewery that offers burgers, pizza, sandwiches and western styled grilled seafood. We got to choose the table which would give us the best view of the sea and we also had the full attention of the staff. In fact, we thought a particular waitress was a little too attentive!
Full Pint Brewery & Fish Bar Restaurant occupies a large space in Parkland Green and has an al fresco dining area which gives a good view of East Coast Park and the sea. The interior decor is interesting with a mix of elements. The large shiny brewing tanks and the bar dominate. Some sections of the restaurant feel like a beach club and there is a small stage for live performances.
Full Pint Brewery offers different kinds of beer from Archipelago and you can also create your own fusion craft beer and have it produced right in front of you. The menu offers sharing platters, meats, seafood, burgers, pastas, pizzas and bar bites. There is a brunch menu during the weekends.
The menu was quite extensive and, in addition, there were special menus for pizzas, drinks etc. It took a while for us to look through the menus – during that time a waitress came by a few times to ask if she could take our orders. The first time she came round, we told her to give us a couple of minutes. She literally came back in 2 minutes; she must have had a stop watch with her!
Eventually, we ordered a Hawaiian Pizza ($25) and Crispy Karaage Chicken ($12) to share. We did not try their beer but had coffee instead – both hot black coffee and iced coffee ($7 each). Food was served quite promptly.
The thin crust Hawaiian Pizza was large and looked interesting. Taste-wise, it was ordinary. The crust to too thin and crispy for our liking. It felt like eating crackers.
The Crispy Karaage Chicken was definitely the better item of the meal. The chicken was nicely fried and tasty – with crispy skin and tender moist meat underneath. The sesame sauce provided added another dimension to the enjoyment of the dish.
The coffee was not very good – served us right for ordering coffee instead of beer in a micro-brewery. If we wanted better coffee, we should have gone to Starbucks next door.
Overall, we think that Full Pint Brewery & Fish Bar Restaurant, with its extensive menu and pleasant and spacious dining area, can be a good gathering place for a convivial time. You probably should not go to Full Pint Brewery & Fish Bar Restaurant expecting a gourmet meal; you go to there to have drinks and a good time and be happy that they also serve decent food.
