Brunch at YOUNGS Bar & Restaurant in The Oval @ SAP

YOUNGS Bar & Restaurant is one of the new restaurants that opened late last year in The Oval @ Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP). Occupying one of the colonial black and white single storey bungalows in SAP, YOUNGS Bar & Restaurant is a cosy restaurant serving Western cuisine. The restaurant’s idyllic setting can make it an attractive destination for a leisurely weekend brunch.

YOUNGS Bar & Restaurant has a sheltered al fresco dining area that has the rustic charm. The bar and dining hall are in the air-conditioned bungalow. The decor is sort of something in between a casual cafe and a classic European restaurant. The atmosphere is slightly more formal than a cafe but still quite casual and relaxed.

YOUNGS Bar & Restaurant offers a selection of Western dishes – such as Lemon-crusted Chicken, Snapper & Clams, Steak, Pizza and Pasta. There are also sandwiches and bar bites available.

On weekends and public holidays, they have a brunch menu.

Brunch at YOUNGS

We had brunch at YOUNGS Bar & Restaurant on a recent weekend. We ordered the Crab & Eggs Benedict ($24) and the Ham & Pea Waffle ($18). A long black was $4.50 and cappuccino was $6. Service change and GST would be added to the bill.

The Crab & Eggs Benedict was quite well done and there was a fairly generous amount of crab meat. The eggs were nicely poached. The croissant was very good, simultaneously soft and flaky with just a subtle taste of salt.

The Ham & Pea Waffle dish did not look very exciting and the taste was unremarkable. The waffle was nice though – with fluffy interior and crispy, crunchy exterior. We can imagine a delicious waffle dish at YOUNGS with some other topping. The coffee at YOUNGS was not bad.

Overall, we thought our brunch experience at YOUNGS Bar & Restaurant was not exceptional in any way. The food was competently prepared, and the staff were nice and friendly, but there was no element of surprise or excitement. It has a few things going for it though – ample free car park space nearby, nice idyllic location and no queue to get a table.
