This is another short post because free ice cream with a good dose of nostalgia is too good a thing not to share. The Centrepoint Mall in Orchard Road is having a four week promotion based on old-school Singapore theme – from 21 July to 20 August 2017. A segment that will run from 21 July to 30 July is called A Journey Through Time with Centrepoint, with pop-up booths in the ground floor atrium giving away free ice cream and kachang puteh, while stocks last of course.
It is not that we have suddenly become Centrepoint Kids or The Centrepoint has become our sponsors. We just happened to be visiting The Centrepoint quite often recently because there are many affordable dining options there – see our post What to Eat at Centrepoint restaurants.
We were at The Centrepoint for lunch and were attracted to a sign offering free ice cream – and free potong ice cream at that. We then realised that there was an event on the Level Atrium of Centrepoint – A Journey Through Time with Centrepoint – where there would be daily giveaways.
Besides free ice cream, they are also giving away kachang puteh.
There is a disco fever photo booth and you can also try your hands at the retro arcade games consoles.
Old school games like table soccer and carom are also available to be enjoyed for free.
Live entertainment are provided by a group of gentlemen who could be described as musicians of the 50s and 60s – a reference to both their age and the music they played. Like the pop stars of that era, they even had dolled up groupies cheering them on. The band did play great music and they certainly kept the crowd entertained.
Free ice cream, free kacang puteh and great band music with a good dose of nostalgia – even in Orchard Road there are sometimes real freebies without any catch.
Nostalgia at The Centrepoint will have other events like free classes for Stretch Yoga, Body Combat and Lindy Hop. There are also good deals for food like $1 beverages, pandan cake and egg tart.
Have a great weekend!
