Here is a list of the best Barcelona restaurants that we tried in 2016 and 2017.

Casa Calvet restaurant

Casa Calvet estaurant Barcelona

Our main motivation to eat at Casa Calvert was to see the building. Built in 1899, it is one of Antoni Gaudí’s earliest buildings. It does not look as quirky as some of his later ones. Given that entering the other Gaudi buildings involve paying an admission fee and sometimes long queues, it was an experience just to enter and eat in one of these historic buildings. The 38 euro three course lunch (inclusive of mineral water, bread, wine, coffee and VAT) turned out to be very good and one of the best lunch deals in Barcelona.  Read about our lunch here.

La Plassohla

La Plassohla is a restaurant in the Ohla hotel right in the heart of Barcelona.  We were drawn to it by the quirky name of the restaurant and illustrations. It turned out to be a very friendly restaurant serving high quality tapas at reasonable prices.  We think it was the best Barcelona restaurant for tapas that we encountered. A good meal in Barcelona need not be an elaborate affair. In fact, we balance out the more serious restaurants with some simple cafes to make our eating more interesting and less taxing (both on the scales and the wallet). The next two entries in the list of Best Barcelona Restaurants are places we go to for a simple meal, a snack or just coffee.
El Sifo d’en Garriga

El Sifo d’en Garriga is a small new cafe that opened in early 2017. They refer to themselves as a snack bar.  The menu is very limited and the decor is simple. Which are reasons why we like this place. A straightforward place with good simple food and the friendliest people in attendance.   Read El Sifo d’en Garriga – cosy new snack bar in Eixample, Barcelona.
