Jamie’s Italian Forum Orchard (Closed)

Jamie’s Italian Forum Orchard is the second restaurant in Singapore by famous chef Jamie Oliver. Located at street level of the Forum The Shopping Mall, the large signboard ensures that anyone passing by this part of Orchard Road notices the presence of the casual Italian restaurant.

The interior of Jamie’s Italian Forum is decorated like a traditional Italian restaurant. where the food items provide the decoration. The walls are lined with open shelves which are fully stocked with different types of bottles and cans.  Bunches of garlic, peppers and other things are hung all over the place.  The Halloween decorations are out and there are also creepy faces here and there. With so much going on the place should look messy, but it was not. The decoration was well executed and Jamie’s Italian felt like a warm and cosy place.

Jamie’s Italian Forum Orchard Menu

The menu at Jamie’s Italian Forum Orchard is a simple one that ticks the boxes for a casual Italian restaurant. The four main segments of the menu are starters, pasta, pizza and mains. We decided to have a pasta and a pizza. We narrowed down our options to the Fungi Misti pizza ($26) and a special dish of the day, linguine marinara ($32),  at the recommendation of our server.

The mushroom pizza was very good. The porcini mushroom sauce provided the earthy mushroom smell and flavour. The bits of other types mushrooms provided texture and crunchy. This was not a very thin pizza and so it was quite substantial dish.

In contrast to the pizza, the linguine marinara was not very well presented. It looked like a big blob of pasta with tomato based sauce on the plate. Taste-wise it was quite average as well.

Overall, Jamie’s Italian Forum Orchard is an attractive venue to have an Italian meal. We had mixed feelings about the food that we tried that day. Perhaps it is better to stick to the regular items on the menu rather than to try the daily specials.  We were there on a weekend and the place was packed. Reservations are therefore recommended for weekends.
