The recent news of Chef Andre’s decision to return his two Michelin Stars and close his French restaurant in Singapore caused ripples in the Singapore culinary scene (Chef Andre Chiang to close 2-Michelin-starred restaurant on Feb 14). For a small country, we are certainly fortunate to have a good range of French dining options in Singapore. Joël Robuchon Restaurant (Closed)
We start our list with the grand dame of French dining in Singapore – Joël Robuchon Restaurant at Resorts World Sentosa. This is currently the only three star Michelin restaurant in Singapore. Restaurant André (Closed)
Restaurant André at Bukit Pasoh is now officially among the world’s best restaurants, having earned 14th place at the World’s 50 Best Restaurants award ceremony in 2017. It is the only restaurant from Singapore on the World’s top 50 list published by the William Reed Media Group. The 2 Michelin Star French restaurant is No.2 on the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2017 and is named as S. Pellegrino’s Best Restaurant in Singapore for many years. Whilst others have come and gone, fine dining restaurant, Les Amis, has been on the scene for quite a while and seems to be gathering momentum. Part of their secret lies in their talented chefs who continue to create delicious food. Another reason is the range of menus to cater to people with different budgets. In addition to the Japanese restaurants, some of the most enjoyable restaurants in Tokyo are the French restaurants (such as L’Effervescence) where the Japanese chefs have injected their own style and creativity to traditional French cuisine. Le Bistrot du Sommelier is a French restaurant located at the end of a row of restored shophouses along Armenian Street.
