Be My Guest Cafe…and the Confit Chicken Lost a Leg

New industrial buildings in Singapore do not necessarily look dull anymore and dining options in industrial estates are no longer limited to drab canteens and functional food courts. Situated in Tai Seng Industrial Estate, The Commerze @ Irving is a fairly new industrial building with a variety of interesting restaurants and cafes. Be My Guest Cafe is one of them.

Be My Guest

Located on the ground floor of The Commerze @ Irving, the cosy Be My Guest Cafe is just a short walk from Tai Seng MRT station. It is small and simply decorated. It caters to the lunch crowd and those looking for after work drinks.

Be My Guest Cafe Menu

The Be My Guest Cafe Menu offers Asian-Western fusion cuisine, which is trendy nowadays. There are items such as chilli crab pasta, prawn mala mee kia and kong bak bao with curry mayo. It has a brunch menu for the weekend.

Below are pictures of sections of the menu and the order chit.

At Be My Guest, we placed our orders and made payment at the counter. No service charge or GST was added to the bill. The food was served to us.

Dinner at Be My Guest Cafe

We went to Be My Guest Cafe for dinner and ordered the Truffle Mushroom Mee Kia Alio Olio ($12) and the Confit Chicken Lost a Leg ($13.80).

Be My Guest Cafe

The Truffle Mushroom Mee Kia Alio Olio was quite well done. It was tasty and we did feel like we were having a decent bak chor mee kia. The subtle earthy flavour and aroma of truffles added to the enjoyment of the dish.

The chicken dish had a quirky name – Confit Chicken Lost a Leg for the chicken dish. The name caused an image of a one legged chicken hopping in a barn to pop into my head. That diminished somewhat the pleasure of savouring the crisp-skinned confit chicken with tender tasty meat. I also could not help wondering if the egg came from the one legged chicken.

Be My Guest Cafe

The restaurant business is a tough one. It seems that good looks and wit are needed in addition to tasty food. At Be My Guest Cafe, the food presentation is more than decent. The prices are reasonable and the food is certainly quite tasty and of good quality. We are not so sure about Be My Guest Cafe’s wit though – I still can’t get rid of the mental image of the one legged chicken hopping in a barn.
