“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”. Likewise, if you have spent a princely sum on a swanky new car and no one is around to see it, does it make sense? Taking delivery of a new car is always a special occasion. Better still if you can share your joy with others and make them envious. Here are our suggestions for restaurants to go to celebrate the special occasion and also places to show off your car in Singapore. For more thoughts on the aforesaid question and the question of unperceived existence see Wikipedia.
Restaurants and places to show off your car in Singapore
One of the top places to show off your car in Singapore is the open air parking area at Millenia Walk. This area is lined with restaurants and bars. You can step out of your ride straight into one of these restaurants. Some options are Wine Universe, Bel Mondo Italian Kitchen and Japanese restaurant Sandaime Bunji.
We should add a word of caution. This Millenia Walk surface carpark is a popular parking space for supercars. Unless your new car has a raging bull or prancing horse as a logo or something equally exotic, you might not leave much of an impression. Another location in our list of places to show off your car in Singapore might be more suitable.
The restaurants at Dempsey Hill are also good places to celebrate your new automobile. The best ones are those with al fresco tables outside. Park next to these spots and turn the heads of the admiring diners. Jones the Grocer and Margarita’s would be two such ideal spots. Parking is free so there is unlimited time for posing.
Another place which has free parking spots right next to restaurants is The Rail Mall at Upper Bukit Timah. It is a less upmarket spot than Dempsey but that might also mean the chance of your new car getting noticed is higher. Two restaurants that you can consider are Italian restaurant Acqua e Farina and Toastbox. There is one precious lot right in front of each of them.
Kampong Glam is a region which is becoming a hip and happening place. It also boasts of many restaurants with direct street access and therefore good places to show off your car in Singapore. A word of caution – sharpen up your parallel parking skills as this place is usually busy and you will need to perform under the direct gaze of your admiring onlookers. Suggested restaurants: Kampong Glam Cafe and Dong Po Colonial Cafe.
Galette à Ô Comptoir
We think that this French Creperie & Pub in the iconic “Rocket Building” is a nice scenic and relaxed spot (on weekends) to spend some quality time with a new car should we get one in the near future. Ô Comptoir’s specialty is French galette or savoury buckwheat flour pancakes.
Clinton Street Baking Company
The reason we suggest Clinton Street Baking Company as one of the restaurants and places to show off your car in Singapore is that this Mini looks so good in front of the restaurant. If your new car is a Mini, how about some fluffy pancakes to celebrate the new cute car?
