Salt Grill Set Lunch
We had lunch at Salt Grill & Sky Bar. The Lunch Set Menu was priced at $49 and allow us to choose a starter, a main course and a dessert. Coffee or tea would be served as part of the set lunch.
The meal started with warm bread served with butter as well as olive oil, salt and a mixture of nuts and spices so we could concoct our own dip for the bread.
One the of starters we chose was the slow cooked organic egg mushroom parfait. It looked quite attractive. The egg, vegetables, mushroom parfait and cous cous combined well to excite the taste buds.
The other starter we had was the signature organic free-range egg crab omelet. The simple looking dish of fluffy omelette with enoki mushrooms and miso broth was full of flavours but not overwhelming. A light appetizer that left us looking forward to the main course.
We opted for the chicken and the seared tuna for our mains.
The Corn-fed chicken breast and maple glazed bacon served with smoked corn and sweet pea puree looked wonderful. Although it was a chicken dish, we liked the bacon and pea puree best – both had nice textures and delightful flavours.
The fennel and pepper crusted seared tuna was excellent. The tuna was nicely seared on the outside with the centre having a medium rare doness. It had a nice bite and was tasty and enjoyable.
The dessert of the day was Tasmanian honey and thyme panna cotta with passion fruit and mascarpone cream and the sorbet of the day was blackcurrant sorbet. They were both beautifully presented. Both had a delightful mix of textures and flavours.
It was an impressive lunch. The restaurant was elegant but not stuffy. The panoramic view was grand. The food was beautifully presented and generally of good quality and enjoyable. Salt Grill & Sky Bar is an ideal place for a romantic date or a special occasion or just whenever you feel like having a pleasant dining experience high up in the sky.
