Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental’s Axis Bar & Lounge is a luxurious treat. In the day, Axis Bar and Lounge is bright and airy and has a sophisticated charm – a relaxed lounge to enjoy classic teas and special blends with delectable pastries, scones and sweets.

With a chic, contemporary design that combines leather, ebony and metal, Axis Bar and Lounge is stylish and graceful. The place feels calm and comfortable with soft soothing music in the background provided by an accomplished pianist. It offers sweeping views of the city skyline and Marina Bay.

Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental
Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental is a full service multi-course affair. After we had made our drinks selection, our tea and coffee were served together with the first course – cold and refreshing champagne ice jelly.

The Savouries
Next came trays of bite-sized savouries which were all very good.

The honey glazed lobster bite and the turkey foie gras roll were rather unusual items and especially delightful. They both had a nice balance of textures and great taste.

Scones & Pastries

The quintessential high tea scones were served with next with duck & mushroom pies and black truffle puffs. Presentation of the items was plain but that did not make the food any less enjoyable. All were well made and of top quality. Every item was delicious.
The pies and puffs were quite substantial and left little room what the sweets that would follow.

3 Tier Sweets
The highlight of most afternoon teas is the 3 tier tea stand filled with delectable treats. Tea at Mandarin Oriental means a 3 tier tea stand filled with pretty indulgent sweets.

There is not a single item which we did not like. The coconut dacquoise and pear chiboust were especially good – there were layers of delightful tastes. Very enjoyable.

For our drinks, we had a latte and the Mandarin Oriental Exclusive Blend of ginger and citrus infused green tea. The tea was excellent with bright but subtle notes of ginger. It was aromatic and very refreshing and went very well especially with the sweet items on the 3 tier tea stand.

Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental was a delightful affair. A relaxing time of delicious food in between sips of tea and coffee in a luscious space with good view is a very agreeable experience. If only life can be a series of afternoon teas.
