The Chop House Vivo City

According to Wikipedia, a “chop house” is a restaurant that specializes in steaks and chops. The name of The Chop House Vivo City restaurant is direct and straight to the point. Meat dishes feature prominently in their menu. Chope House Vivo City is run by the Wooloomooloo Group which has two other steakhouses in Singapore under the Wooloomooloo brand. The Chop House is a more casual style of restaurant which has branches in Hong Kong (Tsim Sha Tsui) and Singapore (Katong and Vivo City).

Stacks of beer kegs outside and at the shelves of wine bottles at the entrance of Chop House Vivo City provide clues to the intentions of the patrons at this meat and steak house at Vivo City.

Here are pictures of some portions of the Chop House Vivo City Menu and wine list as well as the happy hour list and weekday set lunch menu. We ordered an item from the a la carte menu and selected a combination from the $15.90 set lunch menu.

Unfortunately, the $7 drinks deal at The Chope House Vivo City only starts at 5 pm. We had to go for the next best item from the All Day Happy Hour for weekdays. Two pints of Paulaner beer for $18 was not a bad deal. We selected a Weissbier and a Dark Lager. They put us in the mood for Oktoberfest.

The set lunch combination that we had was the mini beef nachos and pan-fried red snapper. We had low expectations for the nachos, but they turned out to be very good. The dressing and the ground beef provided spiciness and a meaty flavour to the nachos. This was a very good snack to go with the beer.

The pan-fried red snapper looked attractive enough. The taste was however quite average. We would probably try something else if we stopped by for lunch again.

From the a la carte item we selected the Chop House beef fajitas ($26). The tortilla was nice and fluffy. The meat had a tasty gravy but had a large percentage of sinewy bits. That affected our enjoyment of an otherwise nice dish.
