Brunch at Bakerzin Vivo City

Dessert cafe Bakerzin has been in business since 1998. One of their earliest outlets was at Millenia Walk where I could still remember revelling in their French pastry creations. Things have changed since then. That outlet no longer exists and Bakerzin has expanded to six outlets in Singapore. Their menu range has also expanded and they offer a variety of cafe food like burgers and pasta. We had a simple brunch at BakerZin Vivo City branch recently. It is a branch which is in close proximity to people on the West Coast and Sentosa.

BakerZin Vivo City has a good location on the ground floor and right next to the main entrance. The large full height windows let in lots of natural light.  Simply decorated, it is a cosy, modern cafe.  Surprisingly it was rather quiet on a weekend late morning.

For our brunch at Bakerzin Vivo City we picked a couple of items from the Bakerzin Breakfast Menu. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the breakfast menu is available until 2 pm. Here are pictures of the breakfast menu and some random portions from the a la carte menu. The “create your own fun” pasta section looks interesting. Customised pasta dishes starting from $6.80 – seems quite reasonable pricing.

The coffee ($4 and $5 for American and cappuccino respectively) at Bakerzin Vivo City was rather strong. Those who like their coffee thick and strong will enjoy. Those of us who like it medium-bodied had to ask for more milk to dilute it.

The two items that we had were the apple cinnamon toast ($4.80) and the blue berry pancake ($6.50). The Bakerzin cinnamon toast had a generous amount of apple slices. The cinnamon taste was barely detectable but overall an enjoyable dish.

The blueberry pancakes at Bakerzin Vivo was a simpler dish as compared to the toast. They were average pancakes which were slightly dry. We would have preferred them to be more fluffy and buttery.

Our brunch at made us recall our visits to Bakerzin Millenia Walk many years ago. The Bakerzin of old felt more boutique-like and special. The feeling now is that of a mainstream cafe. For a pleasant place to eat in a good location, we should say that the prices at Bakerzin Vivo were very reasonable.
