Hyangtogol – Cheap and Good Korean Restaurant in Raffles City

Hyangtogol Korean Restaurant Raffles City is a branch of Hyang-To-Gol (향 토 골), which has been named as one of the world’s top 5 overseas Korean restaurants by Korean Food Promotion Institute (formerly the Korean Food Foundation). The unpretentious restaurant has an extensive menu offering Hot Plate BBQ and classic Korean dishes like Ginseng Chicken Soup and Bibimbap. Hyangtogol Raffles City also has some attractively priced combo meals and lunch specials.

Dinner at Hyangtogol Korean Restaurant Raffles City

We went for dinner at Hyangtogol Korean Restaurant Raffles City and ordered 2 BBQ Hot Plate and Rice sets – the Godeungeo-Gui or Grilled Mackerel set ($14) and the Doaejii-Bulgogi or Marinated BBQ Pork set ($13).

The sets came with soup and side dishes. The portions of the pork and fish were more substantial than expected. The thin slices of marinated pork were exactly what we had expected – tender and delicious.

The popular Korean dish of Godeungeo-Gui or Grilled Mackerel was well done. The salted fish was grilled till there were golden-brown char marks on the skin. The flesh was firm and there was a nice smoky flavour.

Cheap and Good Korean Restaurant

We had a very satisfying meal at Hyangtogol Korean Restaurant in Raffles City. The setting was comfortable and the service was friendly and efficient. The quantity and quality of the food were good and the prices were reasonable. It is easy to understand why the restaurant is almost always full and it is not unusual to see a queue outside this cheap and good Korean restaurant in Raffles City.
