Hungry while shopping at Orchard Road? After the makeover of The Centrepoint couple of years ago, the basement area has been developed into an f & b hub. There is a warren of little restaurants in the basement of Centrepoint Orchard. We passed by some of them when taking the underpass to cross Orchard Road from Centrepoint to Orchard Central. It has been some time since we had Vietnamese noodles and so decided to try some at Pho Street Centrepoint.
Pho Street Centrepoint Menu
Like the other small restaurants in this basement section of Centrepoint, the Pho Street restaurant pleasant and neatly done up, but do not expect luxurious accommodation. We placed our order at the cashier and the food was delivered to us. Here are pictures of some segments of the Pho Street Centrepoint Menu.
Vietnamese noodles – in the form of pho and vermicelli with different toppings form the bulk of the food options here. There are also side dishes such as rice crackers and grilled skewers. Vietnamese beef noodles are one of our favourite type of noodles but for the sake we decided not to order two of the same item. We tried one from the vermicelli section instead.
The food was prepared quickly. Pho Street Centrepoint is certainly a good choice for a eat and run kind of place.
The dry rice vermicelli with beef and spring roll ($9.90) was served in a substantial portion. The vermicelli and the slices of beef were quite average. The best part was the deep-fried spring roll – but there was only a small piece of that.
The pho could be ordered with a variety of beef items such as beef balls, beef shank and beef tendons etc. We went with the recommendation to try the pho with beef tenders ($8.90). The beef tenders were thinly sliced beef with some bits of fat. They were certainly tender and easy to eat. The rice noodles were light and smooth. The broth was pleasant but not as rich as some we have tried before. Overall, we like this dish better than the vermicelli.
Pho Street Centrepoint is certainly a place we will return again. We probably will stick to the beef pho and not be too adventurous the next time. They have outlets in quite a few places in Singapore, including Westgate, Bedok Mall and Changi Airport.
