TOP 12 New Restaurants in Singapore that opened in 2018

2018 has been an eventful year in Singapore F&B scene. It was a year in which Singapore lost its only three-Michelin star restaurant – Joel Robuchon. Restaurant André, Whitegrass and Wild Rocket are among the big names that have ceased operations. The consolation is that there is a refreshing new lineup of restaurants to thrill the ordinary patrons. We looked back at the many new restaurants The Ordinary Patrons (TOP) had tried in 2018. Here are the 12 new restaurants that impressed us, in no particular order.

SKAI - TOP New Restaurant 2018

Perched on the 70th floor of  Swissotel The Stamford, with panoramic views and great ambience, SKAI is a great new place to eat. It is a contemporary grill so steaks are the main highlights but other dishes we tried were all delightful. Read about our lunch at SKAI here.

8. Yellow Pot Restaurant

Yellow Pot Restaurant Singapore

Yellow Pot Restaurant at Six Senses Duxton Hotel is a modern Chinese restaurant where the interiors excite diners as much as the food. At a time when the look and feel of many of the new cafes and restaurants in Singapore are familiar or quite indistinguishable, like James Bond’s tuxedos, Yellow Pot is like a head-turning Bond girl – sassy, mysterious and glamorous. The food at the restaurant should also meet the approval of the urbane 007 agent. Read more.

The Ordinary Patrons | Real Dining Experience of Ordinary People
an independent Singapore food blog

In 1788 Robert Burns sent the poem ‘Auld Lang Syne’ to the Scots Musical Museum, indicating that it was an ancient song but that he’d been the first to record it on paper. The phrase ‘auld lang syne’ roughly translates as ‘for old times’ sake’, and the song is all about preserving old friendships and looking back over the events of the year.
