El Mero Mero, restaurant serving colourful Mexican food in Singapore (Closed)

There are days when we are in the mood to have a break from the usual lunch places. CHIJMES came to mind as a place to escape from the humdrum of life. Stepping into the grounds of CHIJMES was like entering an oasis of calm. Within this oasis is the restaurant El Mero Mero which is a pleasant place to go for Mexican food in Singapore.

We were seated in the patio area of the restaurant. Although this section of El Mero Mero is not air-conditioned, we did not mind as there were enough fans spinning to ventilate the area. The view of the former chapel, the other old buildings and the lush foliage made us feel like we were on vacation.

Taccos, enchiladas and other Mexican food in Singapore

Here are pictures of the El Mero Mero menu. The list of items is not long but more than adequate for us as we seldom eat Mexican food in Singapore. We had a platter of pork and lamb tacos and a El Mero Mero enchiladas.

The tacos looked absolutely beautiful. The colourful vegetable toppings did more than just look good. They lightened the heaviness of the meat and tortilla. Their juicy crunch also enhanced the taste of each bite.

The El Mero Mero enchiladas ($29) was a more regular dish. It did not look or taste as exciting as the tacos. With various ingredients such as grilled chicken, beans, cheese, red salsa with flour tortilla, it was full of different flavours.

Overall, we were pleased with our selection of El Mero Mero for different type of lunch and as a place for tasty and colourful Mexican food in Singapore.
