Olivia Restaurant & Lounge – New Spanish restaurant at Keong Saik Road, Singapore

Olivia Restaurant & Lounge is a new Spanish restaurant that opened at Keong Saik Road, Singapore earlier this year. It is helmed by chef and co-founder, Alain Devahive who apparently had experience in Michelin starred restaurants, including the famous el Bulli Restaurant, and held the role of Executive Chef for Catalunya Hong Kong and Singapore. The restaurant is named after his daughter, Olivia.

Olivia Restaurant has a bright breezy atmosphere that Spanish restaurants can pull off so well.

Our lunch at Olivia Restaurant started with a classic Spanish starter –  “Ibérico bellota” Ham (Gran Reserve) ($34).  The portion size was generous. Eaten with bread, the Iberian ham was a delicious but heavy starter.

More classic Spanish tapas items followed – padron peppers ($16) and “Ibérico” Ham Croquettes ($10 for 2 pieces). They both tasted great. We were pleasantly surprised by the quantity of peppers served.

By now, we could have stopped eating as the “small bites” turned out to be quite substantial. Fortunately we only ordered one main course. The Wagyu Striploin with Truffle Sauce & Confit Piquillo Peppers was pricey at $64. But it was another large serving of meat and peppers. The taste of the beef was very good. The peppers went well with the meat.

We did not have any wine that day, but the wine list also looked interesting with many sub-$100 options. We like the quote on the menu – “wine is the only artwork you can drink!”
