Fasta at South Beach offers good pasta at affordable prices. You can customise your own fun FASTA bowl and design your own pasta dish.
Fasta in South Beach Avenue
Fasta is a small cosy eatery in South Beach, in the lifestyle section called South Beach Avenue. The name of the casual diner is a combination of “fast” and “pasta”. So you can guess that its main aim is to provide a quick pasta meal to the busy people working in and around South Beach. Its website says that they aim is to “serve you the best taste in the shortest time”.
The menu of Fasta is a simple one. It offers pasta, grain/salad bowls and a few sharing dishes like seafood platter and spicy wings & drumlets.
The Fasta Bowl menu allows you to customize your own bowl for $12, with surcharge for certain items.
DIY Pasta at Fasta
I visited Fasta recently and tried my hands at designing my own pasta dish. As you can see from the photos below, I opted for angel hair pasta topped with a lava egg, cherry tomatoes, some greens, sesame seeds and almond flakes. I asked for the honey mustard sauce. I also ordered a long black ($4.50). The order and payment were made at the counter. The food was served to the table when ready.
The coffee was served very promptly but they were not as fast with the pasta as I had expected. To be fair, the wait of about 15 to 20 minutes was not really too long.
The pasta dish was nicely plated. The angel hair pasta was cooked just right – neither too firm nor too soft – and was well coated with the delightful sweet honey mustard sauce. All the other ingredients were of quite good quality and taste. Overall a good pasta dish for a very reasonable price of $12.
The coffee was smooth and had a pleasant aroma. It was robust enough to perk me up.
Cheap & Good in CBD
I am not sure Fasta is really that fast but then good food is better than fast food. Fasta does serve food that tastes good and the prices are very reasonable, especially when you take into account the location of the restaurant. Aside from the crowded food courts, Fasta at South Beach is probably one of the best places for cheap and good food in the CBD.
