We were impressed with the new Funan Mall when it opened on 28 June 2019. It certainly does not look like the old Funan Centre (a.k.a. Funan DigitaLife Mall) or any typical shopping mall in Singapore. In fact we like its edgy look. More importantly, we were there to check out the the best restaurants in Funan Mall. There is a good mix of new and old restaurants. We hope our list of 15 of the best restaurants at Funan Mall to try in 2019 will help our readers decide what to eat at the new Funan Centre.
The interior of the new Funan mall looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, which is befitting the mall’s tech focus. The food outlets in the new Funan are spread out over the building but with the highest concentration in levels B2, B1 and 1. There is a nice cluster of interesting restaurants on level 2 of Funan. The most attractive restaurant, NOKA is by itself at the roof garden on level 7. There are too many f & b places to list out here. It is easier for you to consult the official restaurant directory of Capitaland. We have focused on what we thought are the best and most interesting restaurants to check out at the new mall. We have included sample pictures of the menus where available.
15 of the best restaurants at Funan Mall
“Noka” means farmhouse in Japanese and is a restaurant by Open Farm Community. It uses produce grown on the 5,000-plus square foot rooftop urban farm. It is a lovely looking restaurant on level 7 which is accessible by lift or the outdoor stairs.

Godmama is a modern Peranakan restaurant on level 4 of the new Funan mall. It has a small alfresco area for those who prefer dining on the verandah.

3. The Oyster Bank
We thought that the Oyster Bank at the new Funan mall was one of the most interesting restaurants there. It was a surprise to find an oyster bar in a techie mall.

5. Yu Kee Specialities
Yu Kee Duck Rice apparently has more than 30 outlets all over Singapore. So it cannot be said to be a new restaurant. But that does not stop the delicious looking braised ducks (prepared Teochew style) from calling out to us as we passed by. We can imagine how good those eggs and tau kwa would taste with the dark braised sauce.

6. Old Street Bak Kut Teh
Old Street Bak Kut Teh describes itself as the world’s largest chain of its kind, with 18 outlets in Singapore and 5 overseas. We were also impressed by the attractive decor of Old Street BKT at the new Funan mall.

7. Bizen Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse
BIZEN Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse imports entire carcasses of Okayama cattle from Japan. They aim to “…bring high quality and exclusive Bizengyu (Wagyu) to steak lovers at an affordable price, with steaks starting at only $18.90+”. We look forward to trying the different and more unusual cuts of beef in a future visit.

8. Took Lae Dee
Took Lae Dee is a famous 24-hour restaurant chain from Bangkok. In the new Funan mall, it has moved from a food counter to an actual restaurant, but we are told that the prices remain just as affordable. The prices in the menu average $6 making this one of the more affordable restaurants in the new Funan mall. Read about our visit to Took Lae Dee in Tai Seng.

9. PPP Coffee
PPP Coffee is set up by the people behind one of the coolest coffee joints in Singapore – Chye Seng Huat Hardware Coffee Bar. It was already crowded with coffee lovers when we were there on opening day of Funan mall.

10. Workspace Espresso Bar
Workspace Espresso Bar is a place for healthy and nutritious food and good coffee. It is located on level one and right next to the cycling track. We ended up having lunch there. Read more.

11. Wolf Burgers
Wolf Burgers is a home-grown brand selling burgers with beef patties made from a blend of high quality Australian beef. The dry-aged beef burger sounds delicious.

12. LIAO FAN Hawker CHAN
Liao Fan Hawker Chan is a JV between Hersing Culinary and Mr Chan, owner and chef of Liao Fan Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle, which was awarded one Michelin star in 2016, 2017 and 2018 for his Hong Kong-style soy sauce chicken. At $15 for half a “Michelin” chicken, this sounds like good value for money. Read our post on Hawker Chan in Tai Seng.

13. Fireless Kitchen
Fireless Kitchen serves Western meals that are prepared in a kitchen that does not use an open flame. They use sous vide cooking techniques so that vitamins and minerals are not damaged by the process of cooking. Sounds like a very healthy place to eat in Funan mall.

14. Tiong Bahru Bakery
Tiong Bahru Bakery is another restaurant in Funan that does not need an introduction. From their original outlet in Tiong Bahru, they have branched out to several locations in Singapore. The Tiong Bahru Bakery Funan is their sixth and possibly the most spacious outlet.
Tiong Bahru Bakery #04-22 to 25 Funan
HAWKERMAN is a collection of Singapore’s hawker food by the Tenderfresh Group. The wide variety of food is interesting. But what we really want to try are those with the catchy names, such as Ah Boy’s Hokkien popiah and Lolex Hokkien Mee. The latter costs $44.95 and we may have to pawn our “lolex” first. See our post on Hawkerman in Singpost Centre.

Other Familiar Food Outlets and Restaurants at Funan Mall
In addition to this list of 15 of the Best Restaurants in Funan Mall 2019, there are many other f & b options at the new Funan mall. There is a huge KOPItech food court by Kopitiam in B2. Other familiar names that have opened in the new Funan Centre include outlets such as Carl’s Junior, Dal.Komm Coffee, Dunkin Donuts, Guzman Y Gomez, KFC, Lenu Beef Noodles, McDonald’s, Nayuki, Old Chang Kee, Paradise Dynasty, Sinpopo, Sushi Express, Subway, Toastbox, Tori Q and Ya Kun Kaya Toast.
Attractions at Funan other than food.
Apart from food, there are also some major attractions at the new Funan Mall such as the indoor cycling track on level one (above picture) and the three-storey high rock climbing walls operated by Climb Central (access from B2). Do note the Funan cycling guidelines. The Golden Village cinema (GV Funan) is on level 5 of Funan mall.
We hope you have found our list of restaurants at Funan Mall useful. Thank you for reading.
