Workspace Espresso Bar Funan – healthy food for busy people

According to their website, Workspace Espresso Bar is “conceived as a refuge from the daily grind” and offers “business professionals a respite from their busy day, with a cup of specialty-grade coffee and a hearty warm meal”. Workspace Espresso Bar Funan is their 5th outlet, their other locations are in the Singapore financial district with one in Novena Square. The aroma of the Moroccan Chicken tempted us to give them a try when we were at Funan Mall recently.

Workspace Espresso Bar Funan is located on the ground floor of the new Funan Mall. It is right next to the indoor cycling track which is only open from 7am to 10am. W.E.B. opens early (8 am) to cater for the business professionals who can have breakfast and a ringside view of the cyclists.

The Workspace Espresso Bar at Funan Mall has a straightforward, business like decor. Food items are systematically laid out. The only indulgence were the lovely cakes on display.

The Workspace Espresso Bar Menu is just as simple and business like. There were just a a few categories of food. Choose from the small brioche sandwiches for breakfast or one of the grain bowls after 11 am. A “Lite Bowl” and a “Power Bowl” cost $11.80 and $13.80. The latter gets two more sides and one more topping.

The food that goes into the bowls were neatly displayed. We had two lite bowls and a ham brioche baby’wich ($6).

Here are pictures of our grain bowls and brioche sandwich at Workspace Espresso Bar Funan. I can’t remember exactly the components of each bowl. Taste-wise they were not bad but not exactly gourmet either. They were all very healthy and filling choices. The Morrocan chicken fillets had a wonderful aroma of Moorish spices, but they were quite dry. Even though they were “lite bowls”, the quantity of food in each was substantial.

We found some space to squeeze in a slice of caramel cheesecake ($7).
