The 2019 Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore list was released earlier today. 58 dining establishments made the list this year, including 12 new entries. Here is our TOP shortlist of 15 local eateries which are recognised in the 2019 Singapore Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand list – places that ” … offer diners very good value for money, with a complete and high quality menu priced at a maximum of SG$45″. We have provided links to our reviews which contain more information and pictures.

When the inaugural 2016 Singapore Michelin Guide was released we thought that the Michelin reviewers seemed to have gravitated around a couple of hawker centres and the rest of Singapore appeared to have been neglected. In particular we were disappointed that none of the stalls in Ghim Moh (one of our favourite hawker centres) was recognised. See our post – “We invite our Michelin friends to the best hawker centre in Singapore for 2017“. We are glad to note that, since then, two of them have been listed – Guan Kee Fried Kway Teow in 2019 and Chuan Kee Braised Duck in 2018 & 2019.
The new 2019 Bib Gourmand names are
Anglo Indian (Shenton Way)
Beach Road Fish Head Bee Hoon (Whampoa Makan Place)
Bedok Chwee Kueh (Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre)
Chef Kang’s Noodle House
Chen’s Mapo Tofu

Bedok Chwee Kueh

The 2019 Michelin Bib Gourmand award was given to Bedok Chwee Kueh (Bedok Interchange). We have tried their outlet at Chinatown Complex. The rice cakes of Bedok Chwee Kueh are larger than usual. They were very smooth and had a soft springy texture. They were fragrant and had a tinge of saltiness. The savoury chye poh was slightly sweet and very tasty. The chilli added a different dimension to the taste. The simple traditional snack might look a mess but it was flavour-packed and very enjoyable. You can read more about them in our post Chinatown Complex Popiah & Chwee Kueh.

Much has been written about A Noodle Story at Amoy Street Food Centre, a hawker stall listed on the Michelin Bib Gourmand Guide since 2016.
