TCC @ OSC is a large restaurant and bar in the heart of Orchard Road. Where is Orchard Shopping Centre? It is a question we asked even though we have passed it umpteen times. No, it is not Far East Shopping Centre. OSC is the building next to the H&M Building, at the start of the pedestrian mall that leads to 313@Somerset. TCC @ OSC is located on level 2, hidden from view from the many people passing by without noticing its existence.
Orchard Shopping Centre is not a place that comes immediately to mind when we think of shopping at Orchard Road. If my memory serves me correctly, this was where the Mohan Department Store was once located. OSC is also the building where famous Chinese restaurant Lei Garden had an outlet. This outlet was closed down in 2014.
The exterior of Orchard Shopping Centre is quite plain. It was therefore an eye-opening experience to ride the escalator up to TCC @ OSC. It is a large restaurant that looks rather posh as well. We could not have guessed that such a restaurant existed in the building.
There are various areas in the TCC@OSC restaurant. A large bar, a section with high tables and stools and a beautiful dining hall. It was quiet when we were there for lunch on a weekend.
TCC @ OSC Menu
Here are pictures of the TCC @ OSC lunch menu as well as some sample portions from the a la carte menu. The lunch menu contains light, affordable dishes suitable for working folks and visitors who wants a quick meal. The a la carte menu contains more substantial dishes that are typical of a Chinese restaurant, e.g. seafood dishes, , coffee glazed pork ribs etc.
For our lunch at Orchard Road, we decided to try the braised beef brisket with radish and wok-fried vermicelli with seafood ($9.80 each).
The vermicelli was rather plain. The pieces of seafood were few and far between. The taste of the vermicelli itself was nice but it reminded us too much of the vegetarian bee hoon at a hawker centre.
The braised beef was a much better choice. Served with rice, vegetables and a fried egg, it was quite a substantial meal. The beef was soft and tasty. It was also an attractively plated dish. $9.80 for this in a full service restaurant in central Orchard Road is value for money.
For an additional $3.80 each, we were served desserts with our meal. There were onlu two choices on the TCC @ OSC lunch menu and so we selected one of each. The black glutinous rice with coconut ice-cream had a nice rich taste. We preferred it over the simple calamansi jelly.
