All Things Delicious in Arab Street

Haji Lane is a hotspot for the young and hip as well as the tourists. Many head there but forget to explore the seemingly more mundane Arab Street adjacent to it, which is a pity. Arab Street is, in fact, a rather interesting dining destination with cafes and restaurants offering a fascinating variety of cuisines. One such cafe is All Things Delicious – a cosy cafe known for its cakes and cookies and serving food ranging from North African stew and Indian chicken tikka to Japanese inspired rice bowl and the very British bread & butter pudding.

All Things Delicious in Arab Street occupies the ground floor of an old three storey shophouse with an ornate facade. The cafe has an outdoor sitting area under a green awning. Inside, the air-conditioned dining space is compact and the decor is basic. The key element of the interior design in the natural light beaming into the cafe through the skylight. The light illuminates the space, creates patterns and gives the place a warm cozy ambience.

Weekday Set Lunch

When we visited All Things Delicious in Arab Street recently they had a Weekday Set Lunch where we could order any Salad, Sandwich, Ricebowl or Pasta and get either a soup or dessert free. We could also get a discount of $2 for any drink with the set.

We ordered 2 mains – Roast Chicken & Avo Sandwich ($13.90) and Chicken Tikka Rice Bowl (17.90). We got a soup and a dessert free and we also added an Iced Latte ($6.50 less $2 discount).

The Chicken Tikka Rice Bowl was Indian cuisine served Japanese rice bowl style. It looked attractive. The marinated chicken, caramelized peppers, tomato relish, chickpea puffs, cucumber raita and basmati cumin pilaf were neatly laid out. There was a variety of textures and the flavours were strong and spicy.

The Roast Chicken & Avo Sandwich looked less interesting. It was served with a healthy portion of greens. The sandwich was guilt-free food that tasted quite delectable.

The free dessert was half of a square slice of brownie. It was rich, really chocolatey and had a smooth texture. It was delicious and the only complain would be that they gave us such a small piece. The iced coffee was also good and refreshing.

Wholesome and Good

On their wall and on their website, All Things Delicious declares “Fresh, scrumptious and wholesome: Good Food Rules here. And not just good food: each of our drinks are prepared with love too. Starting with naturally good ingredients, we crave for all things delicious“. Based on our recent visit to the cozy cafe in Arab Street, we would certainly agree that they do offer wholesome food that tastes good. The staff are welcoming and prices are reasonable. All Things Delicious in Arab Street is a very nice spot for a drink or a bite – whether substantial or light, whether sweet or savoury.
