Da Paolo Dempsey is the latest and biggest restaurant of the Da Paolo restaurant group. It opened at Dempsey in late 2019, taking over the space vacated by Culina which set up a new Culina Bistro at Block 15 Dempsey. According to its website, Da Paolo offers “a modern twist to traditional Italian cuisine with a live pasta making counter, Italian wood-fired oven for handstretched pizza …”.
The first Da Paolo restaurant opened in 1989. Since then, Da Paolo Group have considerably increased their presence in Singapore. The group’s operations now includes seven Gastronomia outlets and three restaurants.
The new Da Paolo Dempsey restaurant sports a bright resort look. The white walls and high ceiling give the place a spacious, relaxed atmosphere. A modern wood fired oven is proudly on display at one corner. We tell ourselves that we have to try the pizza.
Apart from the dining space, there is a small retail area where gourmet food such as fresh pasta, cheese and wine are available for sale.
Da Paolo Dempsey Menu
Here are pictures of the Da Paolo Dempsey Menu for brunch. We decided to have the Asparagus & Eggs ($24) and the Proscuitto, Cotto and Funghi pizza ($29).
The asparagus and eggs was exactly that. Scrambled egg and pieces of asparagus on a piece of sourdough toast. Not bad, but we would have preferred something more creative.
We had high expectations of the pizza as the red pizza oven looked impressive. It turned out to be quite an ordinary pizza. The crust was good, with a doughy taste and nicely browned along the rim. But I thought that the toppings on the pizza were rather limited for a $29++ pizza. The pieces of Italian baked ham were sliced very thinly. I could hardly detect their presence.
