Joo Chiat Wanton Mee – Fei Fei 飛飛雲吞麵大王(Relocated to 45 Joo Chiat Place)

It has been a while since our last visit to the famous Joo Chiat Wanton Mee shop – Fei Fei Wan Tan Mee King (飛飛雲吞麵大王). The coffeeshop looks roughly the same except that the chairs now have a uniform look and are less brightly coloured. The distinctive way of serving the chilli sauce on a spoon has also changed.

The Fei Fei Joo Chiat Wanton Mee shop is still neat and tidy. It is a pleasant coffee shop. Ordering and payment is done at the cashier.

Fei Fei Joo Chiat Wanton Mee Menu

Here are pictures of the Fei Fei Wan Tan Mee menu. In addition to wanton mee, there are other types of food available such as fried chicken drumsticks and prawn roll.

We remained focused on our mission to try the famous Joo Chiat Wanton Mee and selected their signature dish in both soup and dry versions ($4.50 each). In the past, the dry wanton noodles came with a spoonful of chilli. This time, the chilli and other condiments were available from the self service area.

The portions of the noodles were quite generous in terms of both the noodles and the toppings of char siew and dumpings. We thought that the noodles were not as good as we had expected them to be. They were quite soft on that day and not springy in texture. The chilli sauce was good and that alone may be the reason to make a trip to Fei Fei to try the Joo Chiat Wanton Mee.

The other nice part was the dumplings. They were small but very flavourful. Together with the chilli they helped to create an overall nice serving of wanton noodles in Joo Chiat. They are open 24 hours so if you are thinking of eating noodles in Singapore at any time of the day or night, this is one possible place to go.
