Bread Yard Takeaway – Casual Western Food at Buona Vista

We decided to try the Bread Yard takeaway service to enjoy their nice casual Western food dishes in the comfort of our home. Like many others, this little cafe in One North Buona Vista has also started an online ordering website with options for delivery or pick up. With dining-in being prohibited, the restaurant looked like it has been converted into a meals production line when we were there to pick-up our food.

There are many offices in the Fusionoplis cluster of offices in the Buona Vista vicinity. Bread Yard in the Galaxis Building is a place we have been quite a few times before. You can find more information on Bread Yard and see photos of the cafe in normal dining mode in our previous post.

With its convenient kerbside location which can be accessed by car without going through the carpark gantries, Bread Yard takeway is a convenient food option.

The Bread Yard Takeaway Menu can be accessed online https://order.breadyard.com.sg/. Breads and pasteries are their specialities. The more substantial food items are casual Western food classics such as sandwiches, “brunch food” such as Eggs Benedict and Shakshuka and pasta. Having had quite a few Asian takeaway meals recently, we decided to have a Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict ($14), a Prawn & Bacon Aglio Olio ($12), some bread and a Matcha Cruffin.

The food survived their journey home quite well. The Eggs Benedict arrived in perfect condition as it was snugly packed. The pasta had too much space in the box, got tossed about a bit and arrived slightly messy. The cruffin did ok but had parts of its topping stuck on the paper bag.

The Food

The Prawn & Bacon Aglio Olio (picture below) looked like a simple pasta dish garnished with prawn, bacon, chilli and cherry tomatoes. But beneath the calm appearance was a fiery taste of chilli. To us, it was “shiok” as it had the kick of mee pok tah with chilli. Those who prefer a lesser level of heat should inform the restaurant when making their Bread Yard takeaway or delivery order.

More predictable was the Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict. It looked as good as a dish served in the restaurant. Two poached eggs on Hokkaido brioche topped with, Hollandaise, peashoots, arugula, pinto beans and corn tomato salsa it is a very good brunch dish with multiple flavours. I think most people will like it.

Our remaining item for lunch was the matcha cruffin dessert. Cruffin I think is what you get when you cross a muffin with a croissant. Shaped like a muffin with a matcha, except that the top was crisp like a croissant. The taste was ok but the flaky top and the melting matcha made it very messy to handle. We would avoid it in the future.

Since we were there, we bought a loaf of rye bread ($6). It is very ugly and looks a creature from the deep ocean encrusted with barnacles. It has a nice chewy texture and nutty flavour. We eat it with ham and cheese. Best consumed within the same day or it gets tough.
