Frenchie Wine Bar at Teck Lim Road is a small place that has a wide range of wines and a limited food selection. There is intense competition among f & b outlets at the Keong Saik Road area. Why did we pick Frenchie?

The name of the wine bar reminded us of a quote from The Scarlet Pimpernel:
“They seek him here, they seek him there
Those Frenchies seek him everywhere
Is he in heaven or is he in hell?
That demned elusive Pimpernel”
Located doors away from restaurants such as Esquina and Kafe Utu, we were naturally curious about the wine bar named Frenchie.

The decor of Frenchie WB leaves us in no doubt about its main business purpose. Wine bottles line the walls of the restaurant – some are empty and for display only. Others have price tags and can be bought for consumption in the cosy dining area.

Frenchie Wine Bar – The Wines
There is a long wine list at Frenchie Wine Bar. Here are pictures of two sample pages. Predictably, French wines form the bulk of the collection. The prices start from around $70 per bottle.

Since all the affordable wines were foreign to us, we chose a German riseling which are usually safe bets. The 2018 Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett ($95) was a light, mildly sweet white wine that should please most people.

The Food
The food choices at Frenchie Wine Bar are quite limited. They are mostly snacks and a few main courses. We decided to have a cheese platter ($18), bread basket ($4), crab cakes ($18) and braised Burgundy escargot ($18).
