New Thomson Plaza restaurants have opened after the major renovations at the mall along Upper Thomson Road. Some familiar eateries have remained and some new places to eat at Thomson Plaza have been added. Here are 10 restaurants we find particularly interesting.
Thomson Plaza Restaurants: Japanese Food
IKURA Japanese
IKURA Japanese Thomson Plaza is the newest outlet of IKURA which also has outlets in Fook Hai Building and East Village. The frontage of the restaurant with its display of red lanterns certainly looks impressive. It looks like a scene from a small lane in Shinjuku. IKURA has the dark, cosy character of a Japanese izakaya. The daily promotion and lunch sets look interesting.

Omoté Sushi Restaurant
Omoté Sushi Restaurant is a modern Japanese restaurant at Thomson Plaza. It is on level 3, near the Yamaha Music store. Guests are greeted by the cute bear at the small entrance. The size of the restaurant is much larger than it looks from the entrance. Sushi and sashimi are the highlights but other types of Japanese food are available. It is a very popular place to eat at Thomson Plaza. Queues form up during peak hours, so it is a good idea to make reservations.
Here are pictures of a couple of sample pages from the Omoté menu.

Hajime Tonkatsu & Ramen
Hajime Tonkatsu & Ramen is one of the most interesting of the new Thomson Plaza restaurants. It is helmed by Chef Tan-San, who is said to be the first Tonkatsu Chef in Singapore. He went to Japan in the 90s to master the art of tonkatsu. He returned to helm the kitchen in famous Japanese restaurants in Singapore before setting up the first Hajime outlet at Serangoon Gardens in 2016. Read about our visit to Hajime here.

Nyonya Memories by Ivins
Ivins Peranakan is a Famous Nyonya restaurant in Binjai Park (Upper Bukit Timah). They have branched out into the Upper Thomson area with Nyonya Memories by Ivins at Thomson Plaza. The mothership is a large spacious restaurant. The outpost at Thomson is a very small place. The menu is also more limited. But whatever is served there is still very good.
