Crown Coffee is a little jewel in the light industrial complex known as CT Hub 2. It is unpretentious and has a nice range of food and good coffee. It is a pleasant little spot for office workers who want a respite from work or want to do some serious work on their laptops while sipping on coffee in the cafe.
CT Hub 2 Food Delivery Hub
Located on the ground level of CT Hub 2 are various F&B businesses that cater to the takeaway and delivery segment. Deliveroo Editions is there, with central kitchens for various restaurants and food businesses and a collection point for delivery riders. Crown Coffee also has takeaway and delivery services and even provides for drive through pick up. However, unlike most other F&B outlets in CT Hub 2, Crown Coffee has a relatively large and pleasant space for dining in.
Crown Coffee
Crown Coffee occupies a corner unit facing Kallang Avenue, although its address is Lavender Street. It is a short walk from the Bendemeer MRT Station. The Lavender MRT station is a bit further away but still within walking distance.
The interior decorations and furniture are functional but not unattractive.
It has a long counter with display cabinets for food and drinks. The set up reminds us of airport cafeteria (perhaps we are just missing traveling).
Menu of Crown Coffee
Besides the food and beverages on display, Crown Coffee has quite a wide selection of items on the menu. The usual cafe staples like sandwiches, pancakes and all day breakfast dishes are on the menu. There are also serious mains like Guinness pork ribs and roasted pork belly.
It also offers kid’s menu, vegetarian items, bento sets and build your own protein bowls. Healthy juices, wine and Japanese whisky are some of the varied options available for beverages.
Below are photos of random pages of the menu and display boards which will give a fair idea of the food available in Crown Coffee.
Brunch at Crown Coffee
We visited Crown Coffee at CT Hub 2 for brunch recently. We ordered the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla ($11.90), Acai Bowl ($11.90) and coffee ($5 each).
The Quesadilla was surprisingly good. The tortilla was crispy and the chicken and cheese filling was rich and delicious. The mango pineapple salsa provided made everything better. The Quesadilla dish was very enjoyable.
The acai bowl was about what we expected except that the portion was huge. The blended acai could easily be shared by 2 or 3 persons.
Takeaway from Crown Coffee
We also bought the Smoked Guinness rubbed Pork Ribs ($32.90) for takeaway. The food was neatly packed in a eco-friendly brown box lined with wax paper.
The pork ribs survived the journey home quite well but the potato fries had become soft when we reached home. The smoked ribs with barbeque sauce were delightful. The meat was tender and came off the bone easily. The marinating, smoking, ingredients and sauce all combined to make the ribs smell and taste irresistible. We thought the price was a tad high but we really enjoyed the dish.
Something for Everyone
Crown Coffee may lack the elusive hip factor but the cafe has a welcoming atmosphere and serves a wide range of food and beverages. It has something for almost everyone. The hungry office worker can get a satisfying meal there. Those who have grown weary of working from home can “work from home” at Crown Coffee. After a hard day’s work, you can enjoy happy hours with wine, beer and whisky. For those who do not need to work, you can sip coffee there all day long or have afternoon tea and then buy takeaway meals for dinner at home.
