秘密 Mimi Restaurant in Clark Quay opened in 2019, during the good old pre-pandemic days. Much has changed in Clark Quay, the riverside dining and entertainment hub, because of the Covid-19 Circuit Breaker and safe distancing measures. Mimi, the modern Chinese restaurant run by the 1-Group, is still there but now only opens for dinner.

Mimi Restaurant in Clark Quay

We had visited Mimi 秘密 for lunch during the “good old days” (read Shhh! share a secret about Mimi at Clarke Quay). It was like a hip and playful teenager then. A key element of its interior decorations was the large contemporary Chinese portraits in pop art colours on the walls.

We visited Mimi for dinner recently. It has grown into a stylishly elegant young lady. The interior decorations are more subdue but chic and contemporary.

The menu has also been refreshed. The digital menu is on its website. At the restaurant you can view the menu on your mobile phone by scanning a QR code.

Mimi has a private room with a private dining menu – suitable for birthday celebrationns and corporate dinners.

Dinner at Mimi

We began our simple dinner with Saucy Crab & Egg Affair 鸳鸯蟹肉配馒头 ($22), which was chilli crab sauce and egg white sauce served in “yin-yang” style with mini fried mantou. It was very nicely presented. It was almost like eating chilli crab in a seafood restaurant but without the messy fingers. It was an enjoyable dish which we would order again.

The next dish was Black Stout Pork Ribs 黑啤脆排骨 ($22). The deep fried stout-marinated pork ribs served with a boozy Guinness Stout foam would please anyone with a penchant for stout. That aside, the ribs were actually quite good – very tender and delectable.

We also had the egg and seafood horfun. It was the least good looking dish and had neither an intriguing name nor exciting ingredients. However, it was good old fashioned comfort food. The dish was rather tasty and satisfying. The portion was quite substantial too.
