Like the rest of Suntec City, the NUSS Suntec City Guild House is getting more crowded on weekends. To avoid crowds, its best to go outside the usual lunch and dinner times. We were there for a late lunch and tried the Guild House high tea for two. Priced at $22, it seemed like good value for money.

Guild House High Tea
There is something about the three-tier cages which are used to serve high tea items. They look so pretty and elegant. It also makes everything you serve with it look delicious. Even very plain sandwiches.

The real thing was not as beautiful as in the website, but still looked rather nice. But on closer examination, they were not the dainty pieces of finger food we were expecting.

The shelves of the cage were filled with pieces of sandwiches, cake, muffins and spring rolls. They were not as fancy or delicate as those served in Bettys Café Tea Rooms in York or TWG in Takashimaya, but the Guild House high tea platter was definitely substantial. There was no way we could eat all that in one sitting. But at $22 including two cups of coffee, it was probably one of the cheapest afternoon high tea in Singapore.

Guild House Hokkien Mee

One of the best dishes served at the Suntec City Guild House is Hokkien mee. It is probably not the most healthy dish as it was served with an abundance of pork lard and prawns. Thinking that the high tea platter was suitable as a quasi-dessert and coffee item, we had ordered the Hokkien mee. It was very good as usual, but that led to us doggy-bagging a big part of the high tea items.

The NUSS Suntec Guild House is one of three clubhouses of the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS). The other two are at Kent Ridge and Mandalay. Membership to NUSS is open to persons with graduate or postgraduate degree from the NUS. Associate membership is open to graduates of all other local and foreign recognised universities. You can read the details on the website.
Afternote
As at the time of this post, we do not see the Suntec City Guild House high tea being featured on the NUSS website. Instead, we see that this is being served at the Kent Ridge location. Do check the latest position before your visit. It seems that the price is now $18! See picture below.
