Monster Curry – Monster Curry

Monster Curry is a Japanese restaurant chain that specializes in monster-sized curries featuring massive iconic 35cm and 41cm plates. The popular demi-glace Japanese curry is made with 14 different vegetables and spices, cooked over low fire for 2 days, giving the sauce an intense flavour. The same sauce and most of Monster Curry’s popular offerings are available at Monster Planet but there will be no pork and lard.

Monster Planet in Paya Lebar Square is located on the ground floor central atrium. It has a basic casual diner interior design but it stands out because of the vibrant colour scheme. It is an open space so the restaurant feels spacious but don’t expect any privacy – every one on the ground floor and first floor of the mall can see what you are eating.

Menu of Monster Planet

The menu of Monster Planet is quite extensive. Besides the signature curry rice, there are also ramen, pasta, salad, toast and rather fancy desserts. The menu can be viewed on Monster Planet’s Facebook Page (link below). Pictures of a few pages of the menu are below

Lunch at Monster Planet

We had lunch at the new Monster Planet in Paya Lebar Square recently. We ordered the Beef Shabu Shabu Omelette Curry Rice ($13.80) and Supreme Beef Omelette Curry Rice ($16.80). Service charge and GST would be added to the bill.

The wait for the food was fairly short. The curry rice came nicely presented in the extra large plates.

Supreme Beef Omelette Curry Rice at Monster Planet

The Supreme Beef Omelette Curry Rice was a juicy beef patty on top of rice covered by scrambled eggs. The patty had a nice texture and and was flavourful. The sweet and savory curry was good as expected.

The Beef Shabu Shabu Omelette Curry Rice was almost exactly the same except that the hamburger patty had been replaced by thinly sliced boiled meat a delectable sauce drizzled over.

On the whole it was a good lunch. We had all the important food groups in one plate, the portion size was substantial, and the food was tasty and affordably priced. Monster Curry has been popular in Singapore. We think Monster Planet will be just as well received.

According to the restaurant’s Facebook Page as at 9 February 2021 – “This outlet is pending for halal certification”.
