Nuage Patisserie & Boulangerie is a nice little place for pretty decadent tarts, French pastries and bread baked on-premises. The new Nuage cafe in Kampong Bahru now also serves hot savoury items.
Nuage Cafe in Kampong Bahru
It was reported in a recent Straits Times article – From KTV to cafes: Kampong Bahru gets a makeover – that many karaoke lounges and nightclubs in the stretch of commercial shophouses opposite the Outram Community Hospital and Singapore General Hospital Campus had made way for hip cafes and bakeries. Chef Icon and Strangers’ Reunion have been in Kampong Bahru for a long time but you will now also find familiar names like Kith and Plain Vanilla operating there. Dolc Patisserie, Haengbok Cakeyo, Kream & Kensho and Nuage Patisserie & Boulangerie are among the new eateries that have set up shop in the city fringe enclave.
Nuage Patisserie & Boulangerie has a small shop front but is is nicely framed by the red doors of its neighbours.
The interiors have a fairly typical contemporary cafe look. It is brightly lid and simply decorated. There are elements for the OOTD shots and Instagram photos. Bar counter seats facing the outside are available for those who want see the world go by while enjoying their food and beverages.
Nuage cafe in Kampong Bahru is also an emblem of the times – an eatery with small tables well spaced apart. From the diners’ perspective, that is quite a good thing. The place feels spacious and comfortable.

Below are pictures of the current menu of Nuage Patisserie & Boulangerie.
Lunch at Nuage Cafe
We tried the Roasted Chicken Stew ($18.50) and Mushroom & Egg Sandwich ($10,80) at Nuage Cafe. We also ordered a Long Black ($3.20), Latte ($3.50) and Burnt Cheese Danish ($6.80).
The chicken stew was served with sourdough bread on the side. The portion size of the stew was quite substantial. There was a good sized chicken leg with potatoes, carrots, onions and other ingredients. The chicken was tender and juicy and the stew was light and delicious.
We had two Mushroom & Egg Sandwiches – one with baguette and one with white toast bread. The filling was nice but nothing very special. We were however impressed by the bread. The crusty baguette had a nice aroma. It was crisp on the outside. The inside had large, irregular holes and had a nice soft chewy texture. It was a baguette with taste, smell and texture that all hit the right note.
The thick white toast was also good. It was soft and fluffy. Nice enough to eat it on its own.
Danish & Coffee at Nuage
The coffee was nice. We liked the prices. The real coffee connoisseurs may probably find better coffee in one of the other cafes in Kampong Bahru. For ordinary patrons like us, the coffee at Nuage was good enough.
Nuage’s Burnt Cheese Danish was an absolute delight. It looked inviting. The crisp, flaky puff pastry delivered more than its looks promised. The soft gooey cheese filling raised the raised the enjoyment of the danish to another level. The mixture of flavours and textures was really pleasing.
