Taiwanese sweet potato porridge is basic comfort food. Goldleaf Restaurant has introduced a new takeaway bento box of 9 delightful side dishes 金典九宮格 so that a humble porridge meal can be like a mini feast at home.

Goldleaf Taiwan Porridge Restaurant

金葉餐廳 Goldleaf Restaurant was founded in 1971 and is still one of the go to places in Singapore for Taiwanese porridge. It offers simple comfort food as well as a long list of delectable classic Taiwanese dishes. When we had dined in Goldleaf Restaurant previously, we had wished that they would offer dishes in small portions so that we could have more variety of dishes with our porridge; like when eating Teochew porridge with many side dishes. Our wish has now come true.

Goldleaf Takeaway Bento Box – 金典九宮格

The Goldleaf Takeaway Bento Box 金典九宮格 is priced at $22.90 and comes with a portion of sweet potato porridge. We ordered another bowl of porridge for $2.20.

The Goldleaf Takeaway Bento Box is filled of 9 of Goldleaf’s most popular dishes. They include Steamed Pork Patty with Salted Egg Yolk, Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables, Omelette with Chye Por (Preserved Turnip), Salted Egg Prawns and Goldleaf Prawn Rolls.

It was an attractive bento box and we enjoyed all the items. The portion size was reasonable – enough to be shared by two.

We are not sure if the items in the bento box change from time to time. In fact we don’t see the Goldleaf Takeaway Bento Box listed on the menu or the website. It was mentioned on its Facebook Page. You can just call them to check.

Nice Comfort Food

The Goldleaf Takeaway Bento Box is a good new option for dining at home – nice comfort food in a convenient and affordable package. On a chilly rainy day, there is nothing quite like a nice bowl of hot sweet potato porridge with a variety of delectable side dishes in the comfort of home. In Singapore it rains an average of 167 days of the year (according to the Meteorological Service of Singapore). So there should be more than a few days in a year when one may want to turn to Goldleaf Takeaway Bento Box for solace as well as fuel.
