Terra Madre Restaurant Dempsey – Health Food Lunch

Terra Madre Restaurant Dempsey Hill is the latest new restaurant at this trendy dining enclave in Singapore. Together with a retail store next to the restaurant, Terra Madre Dempsey is said to be Singapore’s largest organic and natural food store and restaurant.

The new Terra Madre Restaurant Dempsey is situated in the Loewen cluster which is a short walk away from the usual restaurant places at Dempsey. This is the part of Dempsey where the Invictus international school is located. Terra Madre is next door to famous Korean restaurant Chang Korean BBQ. The Terra Madre retail shop features health foods such as organic and natural products. The store was not open when we were there. This is a peek through its window – long shelves of health food.

The restaurant is on one side of the retail store. It is a long narrow space. Terra Madre restaurant’s opening hours are from 8 am to 10 pm. This is a real all-day-dining place at Dempsey. There are different menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast menu is also available for lunch. Here are pictures of the breakfast and lunch menus and a portion of the wine list. Our Health Food Lunch

The Terra Madre lunch menu is organised with salads as the main focus, with the option of adding a protein item to the salad. The “Vegetables” dishes range from $26 to $28 each. The protein add-on items range from an additional $0 to $10. For our vegetables, we selected the grilled sweet potato with kumara gold, tamarind, coriander, chilli and charred lime ($25++) and avocado and kale with organic pepita, organic goji berry, cherry tomatoes, micro-herbs and TM sherry dressing ($25++). Our protein add-ons were Gochujang baked salmon with yuzu, miso, lemon, spring onions (+$5) and grilled grass-fed lamb kofta (+$10).

Our sweet potatoes with salmon combination was the better selection of the two dishes that day. The sweet potatoes and salmon were nicely coated with a nice layer of the seasoning and various herbs and dressing.

We selected the kale salad mainly because it is supposed to be a health food. It is said to contain antioxidants, calcium, vitamins, iron and a wide range of other nutrients. It had a sourish dressing. The lamb kofta was three lumps of grilled minced lamb which was quite gamey in taste. You can probably guess that this was not a dish that we are fond of. The total cost of this salad and protein combination was $38++.
